The Regions Universities are actively involved in promoting Knowledge
Transfer Partnerships to Business. There is expertise in the UK's
universities that could be of value to your business in developing
new products, services and processes.
Knowledge
Transfer Partnerships are designed to help you access this expertise
and bring it into your business by working in partnership with academics
or researchers.
What is a KTP?
Knowledge
Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) allow businesses to access the expertise
available in the UK’s knowledge base.
A Knowledge
Transfer Partnership is a three-way partnership between a company,
a graduate and a university. A KTP is a way of developing a key
area of business, with financial support, over a period of 18 months
to 3 years. A high quality graduate is employed to work on a strategically
important project within the company, supported by an academic mentor
who has relevant expertise in the subject area.
Companies
can benefit from:
 |
A government grant that utilises university expertise and support
|
 |
The
knowledge and skills of a high quality graduate for two years |
 |
The
opportunity to invest in training, research and development. |
 |
Access
to academic expertise and University facilities |
Eligible
companies can access a grant of up to 60% for SME’s and 40%
for non SME’s towards the cost of running a KTP programme.
The
aim of each KTP is to:
 |
Improve
the competitiveness of the business |
 |
Enhance
the career prospects of the graduate |
 |
Enhance
the business relevance of the academic’s research |
