Graduate
The Regions Universities are actively involved in promoting Knowledge Transfer Partnerships to graduates, companies and academics.

If you are about to graduate or have recently graduated with a first class degree (2:1 or 1st class honours), a higher degree, HNC/D, NVQ Level 4 or a Foundation degree then you may be eligible to take part in a nationally recognised Dti flagship scheme – Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.

What is a KTP?
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) allow businesses to access the expertise available in the UK’s Universities.

A KTP is a three-way partnership between a company, a graduate and a university. Graduates undertake an 18-month to 3-year project at the company, working on strategically important projects, supported half a day a week by an academic mentor who has relevant expertise in the subject area.

As a KTP Associate you have the opportunity to:

Manage a challenging project central to a company’s growth
Benefit from business based training and personal development
Develop Key Management skills
Receive a highly competitive salary plus the opportunity to study for a higher degree

The aim of each KTP is to:

Enhance the career prospects of the graduate
Improve the competitiveness of the business
Enhance the business relevance of the academic’s research

What would it involve?
Typical challenges you may encounter as a KTP Associate, depending on your qualifications, include designing and introducing new or improved products or processes, reorganising production facilities, introducing improved quality systems and technology, or developing and implementing marketing strategies to break into new markets.

You will need to work hard but the rewards are substantial. As a KTP Associate you will earn a highly competitive salary and the opportunity to benefit from a substantial personal development programme leading to a higher level degree (MSc or MPHil) and NVQ level 4 in Management.

Where can I find out more?

"I believe that the KTP program is an ideal start for graduates. KTP projects are well defined and structured with prime importance given to the personal development of Associates, which makes it a unique graduate program. I am really enjoying my time and delighted to be a part of the KTP family".
